The Food Bank of Western Massachusetts, based in Hatfield, the umbrella organization for the emergency food network in western Massachusetts, last week learned that the state will provide $5 million toward the construction of a food distribution center and headquarters in Chicopee.
Senator Eric Lesser of Longmeadow announced the award, which is being made available under a bill Gov. Charlie Baker recently signed a bill into law that utilizes funding from the federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).
